Azerbaijan participated in the 76th session of the Technical Cooperation Committee (TC 76), held at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Ramil Gasimov, Director of the International Relations Department of Azerbaijan’s State Maritime and Ports Agency, and Narmin Nabiyeva, Acting Head of the Human Resources Department.
Arsenio Dominguez, IMO Secretary-General, and representatives of the IMO member states expressed their condolences to the families and loved ones of the Azerbaijani sailors who lost their lives in the Sea of Azov.
The participants also called for seafarers not to be targeted under any circumstances and highlighted their vital role in ensuring global trade.
During the discussions, participants reviewed the outcomes of technical cooperation activities and exchanged views on priority areas for the coming years.
The session also focused on strengthening human resources in member states, digital transformation, the professional training of seafarers, onboard training programs, improving search and rescue systems, and enhancing technical assistance mechanisms.
The session adopted decisions on developing the CIS Technical Cooperation Portal, expanding technical assistance activities based on audit results, and strengthening targeted support for member states.
