The international conference titled "Global Challenges in Judicial Administration," dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has officially opened in Baku.

The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A video presentation highlighting the historical development of judicial and legal reforms in Azerbaijan was also shown.

Opening remarks were delivered by Fuad Alasgarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department for Work with Law Enforcement Bodies of the Presidential Administration; Gunduz Karimov, Head of the Department of Legislation and Legal Policy of the Presidential Administration; Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis; Fikrat Mammadov, Judge of the Constitutional Court and Former Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council; and Nino Kadagidze, Chair of Georgia's Supreme Court.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Kamran Aliyev, Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his address, Inam Karimov, Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, emphasized that the continuity of judicial reforms, enhancing the professionalism of judges, expanding digital transformation, and maintaining public trust are the key priorities for future activities.

Fuad Alasgarov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department for Work with Law Enforcement Bodies of the Presidential Administration, underlined in his remarks that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Judicial-Legal Council, which carries out the governance functions of the judiciary in Azerbaijan.

The speakers also included Fikrat Mammadov, Ziyafat Asgarov, Gunduz Karimov and Nino Kadagidze.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Fikrat Mammadov, Judge of the Constitutional Court and former Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council, was awarded the jubilee medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan titled "20th Anniversary of the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2005–2025)."
