Vice-chairwoman of National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference visits Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with Su Hui, Vice-chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the relations between Azerbaijan and China, which have been elevated to the level of strategic partnership. The Speaker noted that the meetings of the heads of state and signed documents play pivotal role in enhancing ties between the two countries in all areas.

The meeting explored the role of regular contacts established between the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) and the Communist Party of China in the development of bilateral political relations, the projects implemented by Azerbaijan as the first country to support the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by the Chinese President, as well as the importance of joint cooperation in the development of the Middle Corridor.

The parties hailed the expansion of cooperation across the economic, trade, humanitarian, scientific, educational, cultural and other domains.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Chinese parliaments, Sahiba Gafarova underlined that the Milli Majlis attaches special importance to further strengthening cooperation with its counterparts from China. “The working groups for interparliamentary ties engaged in both countries’ parliaments play an important role in this area,” the Speaker mentioned.

Su Hui shared her views on the development of relations between the two countries and parliaments, joint activities in the implementation of the Belt and Road project, the Chinese economy and the prospects of bilateral relations.

The Vice-chairwoman expressed her gratitude for Azerbaijan's support for the one-China principle, sharing her views on the prospects of mutual relations.

The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
