Azerbaijani judokas kick off Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam 2026 with gold and bronze medals

The Azerbaijani judokas got off to a flying start at the 2026 Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia strongly, clinching 1 gold and 1 bronze medal.

Judoka Balabay Aghayev bagged gold beating the reigning champion, Japanese Ryuju Nagayama in the 60 kg bout, while Nizami Imranov (66kg) defeated Mongolian Yolk Kazirbyek to claim a bronze medal.

Azerbaijan pins hope on 17 athletes at the tournament, which runs until June 21.
