Azerbaijan closes all ports due to severe weather

Severe weather conditions have led to the closure of all ports in Azerbaijan, Parvana Imanova, the press secretary of the State Maritime and Port Agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, told Report.

"Currently, wind speed in the Caspian Sea basin have risen to 30-35 m/s, and wave heights in coastal areas exceed 3 meters. All port entries and exits are closed, and vessels under both local and foreign flags have been relocated to anchorages and shelters," Imanova noted.

Severe weather conditions are being observed across Azerbaijan, with heavy rain and lightning, which began during the night, continuing at present.

Strong northwest winds persist, with peak speeds reaching 34 m/s in Baku and the Absheron peninsula, 19 m/s in Altyaghaj, 18 m/s in Shamakhi and Naftalan, and 16 m/s in Guba. Data from the Oil Rocks station indicates wave heights at sea of up to 3 meters.
