On June 10, Gaya Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community and Member of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), participated in the international conference titled “The Key to the Caucasus: Geopolitics and Humanitarian Policies of Azerbaijan” held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
MP Gaya Mammadov delivered a detailed presentation on the history and scope of the Western Azerbaijan issue, as well as the activities of the Western Azerbaijan Community within the framework of international law aimed at achieving a peaceful return.
It was also noted at the conference that presenting the landmine problem and the issue of Western Azerbaijan together was effective in shedding light on the severe humanitarian consequences of the former conflict for the Azerbaijani people – a conflict marked by Armenia’s occupation, destruction, and ethnic cleansing, and which continues to obstruct the safe return of internally displaced persons.
